Flight alarm planner

Enter your departure time and the planner works backwards: when to be at the airport, when to leave home, when to wake up, and when to go to bed to get full sleep cycles. One tap sets the alarms.

How the flight alarm works

Everything is counted back from the departure time on your ticket. The airport buffer is two hours for domestic and three for international flights, the airline standard; change it if you know your airport. Add your travel time and how long you need to get ready, tick the box if you are checking bags, and the planner produces five times: bag-drop close, arrive at the airport, leave home, wake up, and bedtime.

Set these alarms creates a one-off wake-up alarm and a leave-home alarm on the right date, switches on the bedtime reminder, and, if you leave the box ticked, the backup notification that works even with the browser closed. The countdown at the top runs live until departure.

Wake-up times by flight hour

Typical timings with a domestic flight, 45 minutes to the airport and an hour to get ready. Open one to change the numbers.

Questions

Will the alarm ring if I close the tab or the laptop?

No. No website can ring after the browser is closed or the computer sleeps. Keep this tab open, plug in, and the clock keeps the screen awake for you. The Ready-to-ring check under the clock shows what is set up correctly.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes on Android while the tab is open (behind other tabs is fine). On iPhone the page must stay in the foreground because Safari does not let web pages play sound from the background. Add it to the Home Screen for a full-screen bedside clock.

Is it loud enough for heavy sleepers?

Pick Loud buzzer or Siren, set the volume slider to full, and switch on the sums-to-stop option in Settings so the alarm cannot be dismissed half asleep. The sunrise light brightens the screen before the alarm too.

Can I use my own sound?

Yes. In Settings, choose an MP3, WAV or OGG file. It is stored in this browser only and never uploaded. There are also 60 built-in sounds, from a twin-bell alarm clock and a rooster to an air horn and a music box, on the sounds page.

What do the sleep sounds do?

Rain, brown noise, white noise, fan and ocean are generated in the browser and play until the alarm, then fade out as it rings. They keep the tab active through the night.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to load the page the first time. Alarms, sounds, the sleep calculator and the sunrise math all run on your device, and the page works offline once it has been opened.

Is anything stored or sent?

Alarms and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account.

How early should I get to the airport?

Two hours before a domestic departure and three before an international one is the usual airline guidance, and it is what the planner assumes. At a small airport with no bags you can trim it; at a large hub on a holiday weekend, add 30 minutes.

Why does the planner give me a bedtime?

Because the wake-up time is the only part you cannot move, the bedtime is the variable. It is counted back from the wake-up alarm in 90-minute sleep cycles plus the 14 minutes an average adult takes to fall asleep, so you wake at the end of a cycle instead of in the middle of one.

Will the alarm ring if my browser is closed?

The full alarm rings while the tab is open. With the backup notification switched on, our server also sends a notification at each alarm time even if the browser is closed, on Android, on desktop while the browser runs in the background, and on iPhone when the site is added to the Home Screen. For a flight, keep your phone's own alarm as a second backup.

Can it look up my flight number?

Not yet. Enter the departure time printed on your ticket or boarding pass; that is the time the airline is committed to. Flight-number lookup is planned.

What about delays?

The planner works from the scheduled departure. Airlines rarely let you arrive later just because a flight is delayed, so the leave-home time stands; check the airline app for the live status on the day.
