How this online alarm clock works

Pick a time, choose a sound, press Set alarm. Leave this tab open, with the volume up, and it rings at that time with a full-screen stop button, a notification, and vibration on phones. There is no account and nothing is uploaded: your alarms are saved in this browser only, so they are still here tomorrow.

Night mode turns the page black with dim digits so it works as a bedside clock without lighting the room; the brightness slider appears in night mode and the digit colour, style and size are yours to change in Settings. Start quiet, get louder ramps the volume over thirty seconds. Sunrise light brightens the whole screen from black through amber to white in the minutes before the alarm, so a laptop or tablet becomes a wake-up light. For heavy sleepers, the solve three sums to stop option makes the alarm impossible to dismiss half asleep. Sleep sounds (rain, brown noise, fan, ocean) play until the alarm and fade out as it rings.

The clock keeps your screen awake while an alarm is armed, which is what makes a laptop or a phone on a stand reliable through the night. On desktop the alarm also rings from a background tab. The only thing no website can do is ring after the browser has been closed; for that, install this page (the Install button appears where supported) or use your phone's built-in alarm as a backup the first night.

Set an alarm for a specific time

Every page shows the bedtimes that give you full sleep cycles for that wake time, how long until it rings, and sunrise at your location.

Sounds

Twelve sounds are generated in the browser, so there is nothing to download and they play offline: classic beep, digital, loud buzzer, radar, gentle chime, marimba, bell, siren, birds, rooster, loud rain and white noise. Or load your own MP3 in Settings. Press Test sound under the clock to hear the one you picked at full volume before you trust it.

Questions

Will the alarm ring if I close the tab or the laptop?

No. No website can ring after the browser is closed or the computer sleeps. Keep this tab open, plug in, and the clock keeps the screen awake for you. The Ready-to-ring check under the clock shows what is set up correctly.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes on Android while the tab is open (behind other tabs is fine). On iPhone the page must stay in the foreground because Safari does not let web pages play sound from the background. Add it to the Home Screen for a full-screen bedside clock.

Is it loud enough for heavy sleepers?

Pick Loud buzzer or Siren, set the volume slider to full, and switch on the sums-to-stop option in Settings so the alarm cannot be dismissed half asleep. The sunrise light brightens the screen before the alarm too.

Can I use my own sound?

Yes. In Settings, choose an MP3, WAV or OGG file. It is stored in this browser only and never uploaded.

What do the sleep sounds do?

Rain, brown noise, white noise, fan and ocean are generated in the browser and play until the alarm, then fade out as it rings. They keep the tab active through the night.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to load the page the first time. Alarms, sounds, the sleep calculator and the sunrise math all run on your device, and the page works offline once it has been opened.

Is anything stored or sent?

Alarms and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account.
